How We Do It

So how does this work?  You might be wondering how a website goes from being an idea in someone's head to a beautiful, interactive, full-fledged website live on the Internet. For the short version, as well as an in-depth look at the process we follow when desigining your website, read on...

Step 1: Getting to know you and your business

Our goal is to help you grow your business by creating and maintaining a strong web presence that will reach thousands or even millions of people.  To do this, we'll sit down with you (at your convenience, not ours) and have an old-fashioned chat.  During this time, we'll ask some questions that will help us better understand your business.  This isn't a sales call, but rather a friendly chat to explore your vision and establish a good working relationship.  Some of the questions you might hear include:

  1. What do you do?
  2. How do you do it?
  3. Why do you want a website?
  4. Is there another business or organization in your line of work that has a website?
  5. What kind of information should a vistitor expect to find on your site?
  6. What do you expect to gain by creating a website?

The answers to these questions play in important role in helping us get to know you and your business, and develop an exciting web presence that will accomplish your goals.

Step 2: Assessment and Proposal

After we've gotten the chance to understand your business needs (known as "functional requirements" in the web world), we will put together an inclusive dossier of recommendations, including a "rough draft" of what should utlimately grow into your website.  This packet will break down the project in easy-to-understand sections, and clearly outline all costs involved.

Step 3: Red Light/Green Light

Included in the proposal we give to you is an agreement that we will both sign. This agreement makes clear our expectations from each other.  It outlines exactly what work is to be done, when certain milestones should be completed, and how much your project will cost to create and maintain.  This is where you decide whether or not FDG is the right fit for you.

Step 4: Development

This is where the magic happens:  your site takes tangible form.  Based on the proposal we delivered back in Step 2, we'll begin designing your site.  This is the step where we will need your content so that we can begin organizing it for the web.  We will also make our work-in-progress available on the web (in a place only you and your designees can access) so that you can see your site as it grows to completion.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

Here we'll present you with a final version of your site and give you the opportunity to tell us what's great and what needs to change before your site goes live.  You've paid good money for your site, and we want you to be happy with the finished product.

Step 6: Show the world!

When you've seen our finished product and are completely satisfied, we'll establish your hosting account and other components (such as e-mail addresses), and post your site on the Internet.  Congratulations, you're on the Web!

Step 7:  While you run your business, we'll take care of the rest.

Your site's been published, it looks great, our work is done.  Right?  Wrong.  Some web design firms create your site and hand it off, and then bill you when you need support.  Not us.  You will be assigned a personal account representative, who will actively monitor your site, generate monthly reports, and, should you so choose, enter your site into link exchanges and shared advertising programs to generate the most possible traffic for your new website--which means more new business for you.

AND THAT'S IT!
